TapTheMap privacy

Effective October 2026 · Ohana Estimating Services

The short version

TapTheMap does not collect, store or sell your personal information. Your photos stay on your Mac.

Your photos

Photos you open in TapTheMap are read and processed only on your Mac. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. Exported photos are saved where you choose: a folder, or your Photos library when you ask the app to add them.

Addresses and nearby places

When you type a property address or search for nearby places, the app sends that search to Apple Maps to find locations. Apple handles those requests under Apple's own privacy policy.

Beach, golf and park outlines

To place flags on the part of a beach, golf course, park or marina your photo actually shows, the app asks OpenStreetMap's public map service for the outlines of those places near the property. Only the map location and search distance are sent, never your photos. Outlines are saved on your Mac so the same area isn't looked up twice. OpenStreetMap is run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation under its own privacy policy.

Lot lines from GIS links you add

If you add a county or state GIS link in Settings, Find Lot Lines sends that service only the map location of the property, so it can return the lot shape. The app does not request owner names or other details. Those services are run by government agencies under their own policies.

Saved on your Mac only

Your settings, saved places, project files and a log of camera corrections stay on your Mac. We never receive them.

Purchases and the free trial

Purchases, subscriptions and the free trial are handled entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see your payment details. The app only asks Apple whether this Mac's Apple Account has unlocked TapTheMap.

Analytics and tracking

TapTheMap has no analytics, ads or tracking of any kind.
